The HyperX Cloud III is the long-awaited successor to the much-loved Cloud II, and after spending some time with it, it’s clear that HyperX knows how to refine a classic without losing what made it great in the first place.
Right out of the box, the Cloud III maintains the signature HyperX aesthetic: sleek, minimalistic, and unmistakably premium. The aluminum frame feels solid but surprisingly lightweight. The plush memory foam in the headband and earcups makes this one of the most comfortable headsets I’ve worn for extended gaming sessions—no pinching, no overheating, just pure comfort.
Where the Cloud III really shines is in audio performance. It features newly tuned 53mm angled drivers that deliver crisp highs, rich mids, and satisfyingly punchy bass. Whether you’re immersed in an intense firefight in Call of Duty or exploring atmospheric environments in Elden Ring, the directional audio is accurate and immersive.
The headset supports DTS Headphone:X Spatial Audio (PC only), which gives games a much more cinematic feel. It doesn’t just sound good—it gives you a competitive edge.
The detachable noise-canceling mic is a nice touch and a clear improvement over the Cloud II’s. Voice pickup is clean and natural, with good background noise suppression. It’s Discord and TeamSpeak certified, so it plays nicely with your chat tools. That said, it’s not quite studio quality—streamers may still want a standalone mic—but for most gamers, it’s more than enough.
You get a braided 3.5mm cable and a USB-C dongle with an inline control box. This makes the Cloud III compatible with PC, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. Plug and play is seamless, and the added USB-C support is a welcome modernization.
If you're looking for a headset that nails the balance between comfort, sound quality, and price, the HyperX Cloud III is a top-tier choice. It improves on its predecessor in all the right ways while keeping the features that made the Cloud II a favorite for years.
Rating: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)
A near-perfect headset for gamers who care about comfort and crystal-clear sound, with just enough polish to justify the upgrade.
